Notifications
Prize Bot uses a mix of Discord DMs, server pings, and staff log channels. Some notifications are free server features; outbid DMs are a User Premium perk.
Notification Types
Auction result DMs
Free server feature, on by defaultWhen an auction ends, Prize Bot can DM the winner and recent bidders with the result. Servers can disable these DMs in auction settings with the result DMs toggle.
Outbid DMs
User PremiumWhen a bidder loses the current high bid on a public auction, Prize Bot sends an outbid DM only if the previous high bidder has User Premium. The new bidder does not need premium.
Auto-bid DMs
User PremiumAuto-bid users can receive DMs when their auto-bid fails or their max bid is reached. These are tied to the personal auto-bid feature.
Claim DMs
Free server featureWhen a claimable prize is created or generated from an auction or giveaway, Prize Bot attempts to DM the winner with the claim action.
Alert-role pings
Free server featureAuction and giveaway alert roles are server-channel notifications. They ping a configured role when an event starts.
Log channel messages
Free server featureAuction, giveaway, claim, shop, and ticket logs are posted in configured server channels for staff visibility.
Delivery Rules
- Silent auctions do not send outbid DMs while active because the high bid and current winner are intentionally hidden.
- Outbid DMs require the previous high bidder to have User Premium.
- Auction result DMs are controlled by the server's auction result DM setting.
- Discord can block DMs when a user has server DMs disabled, blocked the bot, or cannot receive messages from the bot.
- Failed DMs are logged internally but are not retried forever.
Where To Configure Them
Auction result DMs
Use the dashboard auction settings toggle. Enabled means winners and recent bidders are DMed when an auction ends.
Outbid DMs
No server setup is required. The previous high bidder receives them only when they have User Premium and the auction is not silent.
Alert roles
Set auction and giveaway alert roles in the relevant settings page or slash-command settings.
Log channels
Set log channels for auctions, giveaways, claims, and shop orders so staff can audit what happened.
