Custom bots

A custom bot, also called a whitelabel bot, runs Prize Bot using your own Discord bot name and avatar. Prize Bot hosts the bot and installs software updates.

Before you start

  • Sign in to Prize Bot with the account that owns the Server Premium subscription.
  • Use a Discord account that can create an application and invite a bot to your server.
  • Keep the bot token private. The token lets Prize Bot sign in as your bot. Do not paste the token into chat or send the token to an agent.

Custom bots use the same feature permissions and Premium checks as Prize Bot. A custom bot does not give every server Server Premium or give members User Premium.

1. Create the Discord application

  1. Open the Discord Developer Portal.
  2. Choose New Application, enter a name, and create the application.
  3. Open the application's Bot page. Set the bot's name and avatar.
  4. Under Privileged Gateway Intents, enable Server Members Intent and Message Content Intent. Prize Bot needs both to connect.
  5. Choose Reset Token and copy the token. Resetting an existing bot's token invalidates the previous token.

2. Invite the bot

  1. In the Developer Portal, open OAuth2 → URL Generator.
  2. Select the bot and applications.commands scopes.
  3. Select the permissions needed for your features. Prize Bot's standard setup uses Administrator, which gives the bot full server permissions.
  4. Open the generated URL, select your server, and authorize the bot. You can reuse this URL to invite the bot to other servers; each server needs its own Server Premium access for paid server features.

3. Save the token in Prize Bot

  1. Open Custom bots in your account dashboard.
  2. Choose Add custom bot and paste the token into Bot Token.
  3. Choose Validate Token. Check that the returned bot name and avatar match your application.
  4. Choose Save custom bot. The bot appears in your custom bot list.

Saving the token does not immediately connect the bot. Prize Bot checks for disconnected custom bots every 15 minutes. If the bot stays offline or you replaced an existing token, contact support for help reconnecting the bot.

After the bot comes online, run /help in your server to check that commands respond.

Troubleshooting

  • Premium required: check that you signed in with the account that owns Server Premium. Having permission to manage a Premium server does not make you the subscription owner.
  • Invalid token: copy the token from the Bot page, not the application ID or client secret. If you reset the token, validate and save the newest token through Add custom bot.
  • Bot stays offline: check both required intents, confirm the token was saved, and allow time for the next connection check. Contact support if the bot still cannot connect.
  • Commands fail: check the bot's server and channel permissions. For role rewards, place the bot's role above the role the bot must assign.

When asking support for help, include the bot ID and error message. Do not include the bot token.
